Great date spot. Decor and ambiance gives modern low light speakeasy that's cozy. We come here regularly and love it every time. The food is upscale Vietnamese food. Highly recommend the pho banh cuon- it's basically pho flavors wrapped in rice paper- absolute BOMB of a dish. We love getting the crispy prawns and garlic noodles together. The black rice is enough to share between 4-6 people- it's huge. Great if you love seafood- it's almost like a paella. Salt and pepper lobster is always a hit. We LOVE the shaky shaky beef- especially the tomato rice with it. I always ask for extras. The desserts change from season to season- favorite is always the chocolate cake. :) Drinks are unreal. Thai me up is a lovely if you want something on the sweeter side. Love me oolong thyme has lovely combo of oolong tea and bourbon. My favorite is the old drunken master- it's a spin on the old fashioned with more orange flavor. It's not on the menu anymore but you are able to still order it. Highly recommend making a reservation as it does get busy on a weekend.
I know some people think this place is overpriced, but I always felt like the quality of food and huge portions I get there, it is just for the price. I also get the gift card from Costco, which is 20% off the bill. I always go there with a group of friends so I can enjoy varieties of food. I always love their papaya salad and the shaken beef, solid choice every time. The meat and seafood dishes are both juicy and not overcooked, very well seasoned. I have not had the chance to try all the dishes, but I am excited to go back and try them all!
Note this is located at the irvine spectrum by the apple store! Great Vietnamese fusion restaurant. Prawns appetizer were sooo good. Also had the beef stew dish, very tasty. Ask for a side of rice! Only thing is, it's on the pricey side. Definitely not authentic. Great place to try!
I've been wanting to try Little Sister for years now and I finally had the chance to dine here yesterday for dinner! Little Sister is definitely a restaurant I can see myself coming back to, but it's not exactly a restaurant I would add to my top favorite restaurants list. However, I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this restaurant more than the mixed reviews that I've read on Yelp about it. My party of two ordered three dishes: - Vietnamese Chicken Salad - Lemongrass Beef - Seabass The Vietnamese Chicken Salad and the Lemongrass Beef dishes were super flavorful and tasty - no complaints for either of them. The Lemongrass Beef was extremely tender and delicious and I would say that this was the top highlighted dish of the night. However, the Seabass was extremely disappointing - not only was this the most expensive dish, but it was extremely bland and somewhat offputting. I ate one bite of the seabass and never went back to it. I'm not sure if it's meant to be plain or supposed to taste "healthier". I love the ambiance and modern touch of the restaurant and it definitely felt like a more upscale type of restaurant vibe. Every dish was served and plated aesthetically as well. I look forward to trying other dishes if I do come back! P.S. If you download the free "Retail Therapy" mobile app, you can score a Vietnamese Coffee for free. You're welcome ;)
This place is in the heart of the Irvine Spectrum and has a 'fancy'/nice ambiance. I would say that's the appeal of the place, otherwise it's just fancy good quality Vietnamese food. Since there's so many options in OC, this place is definitely higher end for price and quality. Overall food was really good but the flavors tasted a little more americanized.
Although their menu appears to only have one vegetarian option, they can customize dishes. I was very happy with the option to order the Saigon lemongrass beef, but sub out the beef for fried tofu. The dish was savory, fresh, and well-rounded with vermicelli noodle, herbs, lettuce, cucumbers, pickled veggies, peanuts, and fried shallots. It was a large portion too. They have tables at the bar, indoor, and outdoor. The ambiance is a bit elevated, yet still approachable. The service was great, employees were friendly, and the food came out quick.
I loved my tequila drink! Loved the beef noodle dish! Dumplings were also tasty. We liked the papaya salad, BUT our shrimps on it had to be sent back and remade because it was literally raw (like tasted of ocean water raw and slimy), so I couldn't really look at anything shrimp after that.
